The university also offers some of the best value education in the USA, with very low fees. There are a huge range of degree programs to choose from across 8 different colleges. You can major in a wide variety of different subjects ranging from African Studies and Anthropology through to Statistics and Sociology. There are 60 different undergraduate degree programs and 40 graduate programs on offer. Some of their best and most popular programs include: business, teacher education, computer technology, criminal justice, psychology and communication studies.
Art is very important at Sacramento State College, and the Library Gallery regularly hosts exhibits of paintings, sculptures, photos and more. The exhibits are world-class and are popular with the students. It is open Tuesday - Sunday from 10 am until 5 pm.
Athletics is also an important part of campus life, and there are a whole range of sports to choose from as a student including netball, football, basketball and soccer to name just a few. The teams are of a national standard and participate in the NCAA Division 1 competition in the Big Sky Conference. In 2003, 2006 and 2007, Sacramento State College hosted the NCAA Track and Field Championships at their Hornet Stadium.
The university’s newspaper is called the State Hornet and is published around 15 times per semester as well as producing online content. In 1999-2000 staff at the newspaper were awarded the highest accolade for college journalism - the National Newspaper Pacemaker Award.

A large proportion of students at Sacramento State College take part in volunteer work - approximately 36%. This is one of the largest out of any university in the USA. Internships and work experience are also an important part of the students college life, and they try and make sure everyone leaves having gained work experience in their chosen field of work.
The university offers a free bus service for students to help those that live off campus easily be able to get to the campus. They are planning on building a bus-rapid transit system very similar to the one at the University of Oregon.
There is a free wireless internet system at the university that all students can connect to from wherever they are on the campus.
The university also has a range of student-run radio stations on campus. KSSU 1580AM is broadcast across the campus and has won several awards. It is one of the most well-respected college radio stations in the United States, and in 2008 it was nominated for the College Radio Station of the year by MTVU.
